Background and Education:
Gretchen’s undergraduate studies were in painting and printmaking at Reed College. She did her graduate work in art history at the University of Arizona. She has taught art history, English as a second language and media-literacy. From 1986 to 1995, she made documentary videos with communities in Argentina and Arizona. She remembers film-strips in kindergarten as her first encounter with instructional multi-media and the slide rule as her first instructional tool. In 1996 she taught herself HTML—life hasn’t been the same since.
