My piece of the puzzle:
In January, 2010 Kyla joined the staff of the newly formed Office of Instruction and Assessment. She serves the University of Arizona faculty, GTAs, departments, undergraduates and staff in the support of their programs and services by providing on-going faculty development consultations, observations, workshops and, mid-term focus groups. She is the coordinator of the New Faculty Orientation and the Certificate in College Teaching.

Background and Education:
Kyla joined the University of Arizona in Fall 1991 after an 18 year career as a Neonatal/Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse. In her first position with Dr. Mary Koss, she served as an NIH grant research interviewer with the College of Medicine. She completed her Master of Arts degree in 1993 joining the University Teaching Center as a research assistant for the Campus Climate project. Her position with the Teaching Center grew into a multifaceted position encompassing the support of faculty, GTAs, undergraduates, departments and staff. As a lifelong learner, she continued pursuing graduate level courses in Higher Education, Cultural Studies through the Intercultural Communication Institute in Forest Grove, Oregon and an extensive course of study in Cooperative Learning. Serving on the Graduate College GTA subcommittee with Dr. Adela Allen, she developed the program that has now become the Certificate in College Teaching. This 10 credit hour program assists Graduate Teaching Assistants to develop the teaching research-based knowledge, skills and abilities needed to teach adult learners at the College level.

In her personal commitment to lifelong learning, health and wellness, she is a certified yoga instructor, a certified reflexologist and a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine.
