Engaging Students, in the Classroom and Online: January 6, 2011 Teaching Academy

Once again the OIA will offer a day of seminars on a variety of topics geared towards faculty and all who teach on the UofA campus.

The seminars take place on Thursday January 6, 2011 starting at 9am and running into the afternoon.  The 7 seminars that are offered cover topics such as online instruction, the difference between face to face and online teaching, engaging students in the classroom, classroom feedback and cooperative learning.

Don't Get Up, Do Yoga!

Mary Graham is a Librarian at the Arizona State Museum, but she is also a yoga teacher. She has been doing yoga for 15 years and is working toward her certification. For the Art Libraries Society of North America: Western Regional Chapter's virtual regional conference, Nov. 4, 2010, she decided to create some short videos on doing yoga at work.

Luis Carlos Romero-Davis, OIA Multimedia Solutions, was named Man of the Year in the Southern Arizona 2010 class of Arizona Daily Star 40 Under 40.  Luis Carlos is best known for his award winning documentary "389 Miles: Living the Border."

Space Freed Up for D2L

The use of D2L has grown steadily since its adoption in Fall, 2005. This growth has resulted in a tremendous increase in the amount of data being stored within the D2L system resulting in an immense need for additional storage. Therefore, UITS and Office of Instruction and Assessment (OIA) staff have collaborated in creating a D2L Archive and Purge Plan. The goal is to archive or purge course materials older than two years from the main D2L system to optimize D2L performance.
